The legendary batsman has scored 2278 runs in 45 matches with the help of 6 centuries and 15 fifties. Apart from Tendulkar, no other player has managed to breach the 2000-run mark in the ODI World Cup.

He is followed by two-time World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting who scored 1743 runs in the World Cup. Ponting scored 5 centuries and 6 fifties, leading Australia to World Cup glory in 2003 and 2007. Kumar Sangakkara, Brian Lara, and AB de Villiers complete the top five. In the tournament, Sangakkara scored 1532 runs while Lara and de Villiers scored 1225 and 1207, respectively.
