Most runs in Asia Cup: The only continental championship in cricket, Asia Cup is a tournament where Asian teams fight it out for the continental supremacy. The tournament is hosted every two or four years by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The first edition of the competition was played in the United Arab Emirates in 1984 with three participating teams - India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

India were the inaugural winners and are also the most successful side in the history of Asia Cup. They have won the Asia Cup 7 times while Sri Lanka and Pakistan have won it 6 and 2 times respectively. No other Asian team has managed to win the tournament so far.

Asia Cup is a tournament that every players targets to establish himself in the league of big stars. The competition is the only continental championship in the game and a good performance in it can make a player a global superstar. Unsurprisingly, the players want to do well in Asia Cups and scoring most number of runs in this tournament is one of the biggest achievements in the game.

Here we are taking a look at those players who have scored most runs in Asia Cup. The record for scoring most runs in Asia Cup in the ODI format is held by former Sri Lanka skipper Sanath Jayasuriya. The Sri Lanka great played 25 matches in the Asia Cup and scored over 1200 runs. His compatriot Kumar Sangakkara and legendary Sachin Tendulkar complete the top 3.

In the T20 format, the record is held by India star Virat Kohli. The former India skipper has scored 429 runs in the Asia Cup played in the T20 format. He is followed by Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan and his compatriot and current India skipper Rohit Sharma.
