Here's Why Team India's Test Jersey Have Sponsors Dream11's Name Written In The Front
The logo of Dream11 on Team India's Test jersey has not really gone down well with the Indian cricket fans. Not very long ago, the fans went gaga over the jersey after Adidas released the new edition.
The jersey that the Indian players wore during the World Test Championship final against Australia was praised by majority of the fans. With the jersey sporting the country's name at the front, the fans took to social media to express their admiration over the same.
However, the latest photos of the jersey have quite a storm on Twitter as fans have slammed the BCCI for the same. The fans have called out the Indian cricket board for prioritising money over everything. Well, one can understand the frustration of the fans but blaming the BCCI completely might not be the right thing.
Here's Why Team India's Test Jersey Have Sponsors Dream11's Name Written In The Front:
The reason behind the absence of the logo during the WTC final was the existing ICC rule. The governing body of the game has barred the teams from wearing adverts on the front of their shirts in the ICC tournaments. The teams, however, are allowed to show the sponsors' logo on one sleeve.
Such rule does not exist for any bilateral event. As a result, teams sport the sponsors' logo on the front of the shirt. And the positioning of the logo is important because of monetary reasons. The sponsors pay more money when the logo is worn by the team on the front of their shirts. This is why the Dream11 logo is at the front of Team India's Test jersey. A few days ago, the BCCI confirmed that Dream11 has replaced Byju’s as the jersey sponsor of Team India in a deal that has cost the company ₹358 crore.
